Pulmonary sequestration: intralobar

Case contributed by Dr Ahmed Abdrabou

Recurrent attacks of chest pain and dyspnea

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Left lower lobe irregular mass which occupies the posterior basal segment of the left lower lobe and extending to the pleural surface.

A nicely demonstrated abnormal vessel is seen arising from the thoracic aorta to supply the mass.

Case Discussion

The CT findings are keeping with a pulmonary sequestration.

The venous return of the sequestrated lobe which is not available can determine the type of the sequestration.
