Pulmonary valve replacement

Presentation

Young patient with cardiac history, that merits cardiothoracic surgery.

Patient Data

Age: 15
Gender: Male
Modality: X-ray

Median sternotomy.

Iatrogenic high density structure in the left paramidline at the site of the pulmonary trunk, in keeping with a pulmonary valve replacement.

Case Discussion

The pulmonary valve is an uncommon form of prosthetic cardiac valves replacement.

Its location to the left of the midline close to the pulmonary trunk, allow for it identification.

In this case it was a Melody prosthetic valve.
