Presentation

Newborn of an unbooked pregnancy.

Patient Data

Age: Day 1 of life
Gender: Male
x-ray

Gas filled distended stomach with complete absence of distal bowel gas, giving rise to single bubble sign.

Fluoroscopy

Contrast was introduced into the rectum via a catheter.
No passage of contrast proximal to the rectosigmoid junction despite multiple attempts.

Case Discussion

Pyloric atresia with multiple atretic segments involving the intestine and colon was noted intraoperatively.
