Presentation
Left lower quadrant, suprapubic and left flank pain. White cells count 15.5 (ref. 4.0-11.0) with Neut 12.4 (ref. 2.0-8.0).
Patient Data
There is a prominent fluid-attenuation tubular left adnexal structure, up to 2 cm in caliber, consistent with hydrosalpinx. It conglomerates with the left ovary with thick enhancing walls. Subtle focal fat stranding is noted in between this lesion and the rectum. The right ovary and the uterus are unremarkable within the limitations of a CT study.
No abnormality of the bowel is identified. There is no free fluid or free gas.
Case Discussion
Features are consistent with hydrosalpinx, with thickening and enhancing walls in keeping with pyosalpinx.
The diagnosis was acheived based on the clinical data and imaging appearances.
