Quadriceps tendinosis

Case contributed by Dr Maulik S Patel

Anterior knee pain - 2 -3 mths. Minor trauma. Referred for knee radiograph and quadriceps tendon ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: about 14 - 15 yrs
Gender: Male

No bony abnormality.

The symptomatic distal tendon is thicker, more hypoechoic and shows power doppler flow signals.

Asymptomatic is normal.

Case Discussion

Comparision with asymptomatic side and use of power doppler is required to detect early tendinosis or any finding which is not immediately obvious to our eyes.
