Quadriceps tendinosis

Diagnosis almost certain


Anterior knee pain for the last 2-3 months. Minor trauma. Referred for knee radiograph and quadriceps tendon ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male

No bony abnormality.


Side by side comparison of the asymptomatic tendon (normal thickness) and symptomatic tendon (thicker, more hypoechoic and shows power doppler flow signals).

Case Discussion

Comparison with asymptomatic side and use of power Doppler is required to detect early tendinosis or any finding which is not immediately obvious to our eyes.
