Radial collateral ligament avulsion injury and retraction of an avulsed bone fragment, which is separated from the donor site on the proximal phalanx.
Ulnar collateral ligament also shows increased fluid signal intensity associated with subjacent bone marrow edema on its proximal phalangeal attachment.
Case Discussion
MRI findings favor the avulsion of distal attachment of the radial collateral ligament of the thumb at the metacarpophalangeal joint. Radial collateral ligament injury is less common than the ulnar collateral ligament of the thumb.
