Radial tear of lateral meniscus

Presentation

Previous significant knee trauma (twisting) while playing football. Knee pain.

Patient Data

Age: 22 years
Gender: Male

There is disrupted bow tie appearance of the lateral meniscus on the sagittal planes. This tear runs perpendicular to the long axis of the meniscus. On the coronal images, the lateral meniscus' normal triangular signal misses its tip.

Case Discussion

An isolated lateral mesnicus tear is an uncommon occurrence unless in the setting of trauma.
