Patient Data

Age: 25 years

ultrasound

Features consistent with post-traumatic olecranon bursitis were observed (images not included).

Incidentally, a triangular echogenic structure was identified, interposed between the capitellum and the radial head anteriorly, within the anterior aspect of the radiohumeral joint. This structure was not present in the contralateral joint (not shown).

Case Discussion

Incidental finding consistent with a radio-humeral meniscus or a thick synovial fold.

No history of lateral elbow pain or snapping was reported.

Radio-humeral meniscus, often referred to as meniscoid or meniscus homologue is a rare anatomical variant 1,2. In this case, it was asymptomatic.
