Rasmussen encephalitis

Recurrent seizures over the last 15 years.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Unilateral left-sided cerebral atrophy and ex-vacuo dilatation of the left lateral ventricle

High signal foci in T2 and flair sequences at subcortical and periventricular the white matter of both cerebral hemispheres depicts microvascular ischemic events

Hyperpneumatization of the left frontal sinus.

Case Discussion

Clinical and MRI imaging findings are suggestive for Rasmussen encephalitis.

Differential diagnosis of Rasmussen encephalitis include:

- Dake Davidoff Masson syndrome

- Unilateral megalencephaly

- Sturge Weber syndrome
