MRI demonstrates the mass to be well circumscribed, with intrinsic high T1 signal and no enhancement. On T2 weighted images the mass appear of high signal with a prominent inferior low intensity 'dot'.
The optic chiasm is elevated and compressed.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates classic appearances of Rathke cleft cyst including the near-pathognomonic 'dot' of non-enhancing material within the cyst.
