Recovering infantile COVID-19

Presentation

Cough, had COVID-19 2 weeks ago but now with continued cough.

Patient Data

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

No discrete focal pneumonia, effusion or pneumothorax. No discrete ground glass opacification to suggest COVID-19 pneumonia.

Mild-to moderate diffuse bilateral bronchial wall thickening is in keeping with a viral process given history.

The cardio-thymic silhouette the and central pulmonary vascularity are normal.

Large air-fluid level in the stomach is most likely due to postprandial status and aerophagia.

No acute osseous findings. No discrete osseous anomaly.

Case Discussion

COVID-19 infection presents like a viral process and reactive airway disease in young children. Classic ground glass opacities seen in adults are not commonly seen in the pediatric population.
