Rectus abdominis muscle strain

Complaining of dry cough for 7-10 days and pain in left lower abdomen during coughing for 3 days.

Patient Data

Age: 35
Gender: Female

At the site pain pointed by patient, there is focal area of loss of normal rectus abdominis muscle echopattern. It involves nearly full thickness of the muscle. Affected muscle area overlies inferior epigastric vessels. No mobile echoes are noted in affected area.

Hypervascularity was present in affected area ( image not documented ).

No inguinal / femoral / spigelian hernia was present on left side during supine valsalva.

No significant intraperitoneal abnormality were seen ( Images not uploaded ).

Typical findings of rectus abdominis muscle strain caused by excessive coughing of short duration.
