Rectus femoris muscle injury

Presentation

Right arm fast bowler. Complaining of right anterior thigh region pain for last 4 weeks.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is an irregular fluid cleft involving the right rectus femoris muscle which correlates with the site of pain. It Involves proximal mid-third of the thigh. It measures 80 x 22 x 5 mm. The rest of the quadriceps muscles shows normal echopattern.

Direct and indirect heads of the rectus femoris are intact. Superficial, central and distal aponeurosis are intact. Quadriceps tendon is normal. There is no suprapatellar effusion.

Case Discussion

The case shows one type of cricket injuries. The patient is a right-arm fast bowler with right thigh pain for one month. Ultrasound show rectus femoris muscle injury. Most of the quadriceps injuries occur on the bowling side of the body 3.
