Presentation
Elite cyclist. Anterior hip pain with deep squats.
Patient Data
Partial tearing and tendinosis involving the deep aspect fibers of rectus femoris at the AIIS attachment. The superficial insertional fibers are preserved as is the capsular attachment or rectus femoris. Normal appearance of the iliopsoas tendon complex and iliopsoas bursa. Normal appearing hamstring and gluteal tendon insertions. There is no hip joint effusion. Fraying of the anterosuperior acetabular labrum with linear signal through the labral base and early acetabular rim cartilage degeneration. The hip joint cartilage is otherwise preserved with normal subchondral marrow signal. Normal femoral head-neck junction offset with no features to suggest CAM type femoral-acetabular impingement. No neurovascular abnormalities identified within the imaged field.
Case Discussion
Rectus femoris origin tendinosis and partial tear.
