Presentation

Fever day 7 post laparoscopic right hemicolectomy

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

Evidence of previous right hemicolectomy. No complication or intra-abdominal collection evident. In the mid descending colon, there is eccentric wall thickening and an enlarged diverticulum with surrounding fat stranding and thickening of the adjacent perirenal and lateral conal fascia in keeping with acute diverticulitis. Multiple other diverticuli are concentrated in in the sigmoid colon. No pericolic collection or free gas is evident to suggest perforation.

Gas within urinary bladder likely related to recent removal of IDC.

Conclusion

  • Mid descending colon acute diverticulitis with no complication evident.
  • No complication related to the right hemicolectomy demonstrated.
