Renal angiomyelolipoma

Left flank pain.

Patient Data

Age: 43 years
Gender: Female

Renal ultrasound

Ultrasound demonstrates a 2.9 cm hyperechogenic mass arising from the left kidney lower moiety. 


CT Abdomen and pelvis

There is a left kidney lower moiety cortical mass that is well-defined and shows a predominantly fat attenuation. A left kidney mid pole cortical simple cyst is also noted (Bosniak I). The remainder of the kidneys and renal tracts appear normal. 

Case Discussion

Images features are consistent with an angiomyolipoma. The patient was referred for further angiographic embolization using alcohol and lipiodol.
