Renal angiomyolipoma

Accidentally discovered right renal mass on routine abdominal ultrasonography.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years old
Gender: Female

A mass lesion arises from the posterior cortex of the right kidney. It is heterogenous with enhancing soft tissue and fat inside. No evidence of invasion of Gerota fascia or para renal fat. Other two similar but tiny lesions at the inferior pole of right kidney. Calcified uterine myomas are also noted.

Case Discussion

Excisional biopsy revealed renal angiomyolipoma. The differential diagnosis of this lesion includes renal cell carcinoma, oncocytoma and metastasis.
