Left flank pain.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

  • there is a filling defect in the left renal artery – total thrombotic occlusion of the left renal artery

  • the enhancement of the left kidney is strongly decreased

  • mild  edematous changes within the fat of left perirenal space – perinephric stranding

  • there are several cysts in both kidneys the largest is exophytic from the left lower renal pole without any signs of complications

  • incidental hyperplasia of the prostate

After placing a drug-eluting stent into the left renal artery there is visible blood flow through the artery.

Case Discussion

Renal artery thrombosis is a rare pathology that causes ischemic changes of the kidney. In this case, the etiology of thrombosis is unknown. Immediately he was taken to the intervention department where a drug–eluting stent was placed into the left renal artery.
