Renal cell carcinoma - on MRI

Patient with renal impairment. Incidental mass on ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Due to renal impairment, not a candidate for CT or MRI with contrast. Surgeon wishes to delineate mass to assess if a partial nephrectomy can be performed.

Large exophytic well defined mass in the lower pole of the left kidney.  Appearances most likely a renal cell carcinoma.  Oncocytoma a possible differential. 


Hemorrhagic lower pole tumor with clear resection margin from partial nephrectomy specimen.
