Case Discussion

Large volume IVC thrombosis in a case of cystic renal cell carcinoma.

The involvement of the infradiaphragmatic IVC gives a local stage of T3b to this tumor.  If the thrombus extended into the suprahepatic IVC it would be T3c.

The overall stage is T3b, N1, M1 (lung and adrenal).
