Presentation

Left sided flank pain and microscopic hematuria. Usually fit and well.

Patient Data

Age: 13 years
Gender: Female

Large calcific density projected over the left kidney consistent with a renal calculus.

Case Discussion

It is unusual for large stones to develop in children in the absence of an underlying condition. The child was subsequently found to have cystinuria.
