Presentation

Work up for hematuria.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
ct

A few small cysts are seen in the liver, measuring less than 10 mm.

A 53 × 34 mm cystic lesion with thick enhancing wall and septations is noted at the anterior aspect of the right kidney. No obvious calcification or solid component is observed.

The prostate gland is enlarged.
Mild degenerative changes as osteophytosis are seen at the lumbar spine. 
Fat containing left inguinal hernia is present.

Right renal cystic lesion (Bosniak category III).

The Bosniak classification system of renal cystic masses divides renal cystic masses into five categories based on imaging characteristics on contrast-enhanced CT or MRI. It is helpful in predicting a risk of malignancy and suggesting either follow up or treatment.
