Renal cystic mass (Bosniak class III)

Presentation

Abdominal pain. Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

A 44 mm partially exophytic cortical cyst with irregular thickened enhancing wall (3 mm), and without calcification or enhancing nodule is noted in the posterior aspect of the left kidney.

The prostate gland is mildly enlarged.

Case Discussion

Features on CT images are compatible with Bosniak class III left renal cystic mass, according to Bosniak classification version 2019 up to 50% of Bosniak class III lesions are malignant.
