Renal hydatid cyst

Yemenian patient with known hydatid disease, complained from right flank and abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Right upper zone well defined large cyst likely hydatid cyst.


Irregular right renal calcified cyst. An associated surrounding right renal perinephric streaks.

Case Discussion

Renal hydatid infection is extremely rare and is seen in less than 5% of patients with hydatid disease.

Clinical manifestations are variable, and have polymorph symptomatology which is rarely specific

The irregular right renal calcified cyst was proved incidentally to be a part of hydatid disease.
