Patient Data
Age: Neonate
From the case:
Respiratory distress syndrome
Frontal

Ventilated neonate with RDS and confluent change in the right upper zone. In addition, there is moderate-volume pneumoperitoneum.
Case Discussion
Don't forget to look for the abnormalities on the edge of the film. There is background RDS in this 24/40 neonate with confluent change in the right upper lobe (this can happen when the surfactant is preferentially instilled into the lower lobe).
However, there is also a moderate-volume pneumoperitoneum.
