Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Preterm neonate. Initially ventilated. Deterioration since extubation.

Patient Data

Age: 1 month
Gender: Male

Extensive bubble-like lucencies throughout the right lung in a previously ventilated neonate with treated RDS.  Features of pulmonary interstitial emphysema.

Resolution of the previously demonstrated pulmonary interstitial emphysema after 6 days with close observation, but no other treatment.
