Info

Multiple well-defined, rounded opacities are seen in the left upper quadrant and pelvis. Given the history of a recent barium swallow and meal study, these findings most likely represent retained contrast within colonic diverticula, suggestive of colonic diverticulosis.

Case Discussion

A large hiatal hernia was found on a barium swallow and meal study. The patient subsequently underwent surgical repair.

Two weeks after the initial barium study, the patient returned for evaluation to rule out a postoperative leak. The previous images were taken as control films prior to the evaluation.
