An anatomical variant where the left renal vein lies located between the aorta and the vertebra and drains into the inferior vena cava. Noted also multiple bilateral variable sized renal cysts are seen.

Retroaortic left renal vein is an incidental finding with an estimated prevalence of  about 2% .
