Presentation
Abdominal pain and palpable mass on physical exam.
Patient Data
In the left posterior pararenal space, around soft tissue mass, 53 mm in diameter and 29 HU in attenuation value. After IV contrast media, its attenuation value increase up to 69 HU. A tiny calcified focus is noted in its margin. The mass displaces left kidney foreword.
Another mass, having solid (16 HU) and fatty (-62 HU) components, is present in the left anterior para renal space, displacing the descending colon foreword. Its diameters are 159×114×95 mm.
An 8 mm stone was seen in mid calyx of the left kidney.
Fat containing umbilical hernia is evident.
The patient underwent mass resection, and histopathology evaluation confirmed liposarcoma.
Case Discussion
Retroperitoneal liposarcoma is one of the most common primary retroperitoneal neoplasms and a subtype of liposarcoma that may arise in any fat-containing region of the body.
