Presentation
Male patient, with syncopal attacks and arrhythmia.
Patient Data
CXR confirms a Reveal Plus Insertable Loop Recorder (ILR) within the anterior extra thoracic soft tissues.
Case Discussion
The Reveal Plus Insertable Loop Recorder (ILR) is one of the earlier cardiac monitoring devices used to record subcutaneous electrocardiograms (ECG'S) during symptomatic episodes.
It can be patient (manually) and/or automatically activated.
MRI may affect data storage and patients can feel magnetic forces applied to the device during scanning. Patients should be alerted of this prior to imaging and reassured that it does not constitute a safety hazard or contraindication to MRI.
The newer Reveal XT is MRI conditional and has recommendations for safe MRI scanning of these cardiac patients.
