A: External rotation with valgus stress to the knee, typically during a high velocity injury such as being struck by a motor vehicle.
Case Discussion
Avulsion of the medial proximal tibial articular surface (reverse Segond fracture) suggests disruption of the medial collateral ligament. This uncommon injury is associated with medial meniscal and PCL injuries.
