Presentation

Work up for hand deformity and chronic pain.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

Both hands

x-ray

There is periarticular osteoporosis with symmetrical joint space narrowing at proximal interphalangeal, metacarpophalangeal, and intercarpal joints bilaterally, causing deformity. 

Case Discussion

The findings of x-rays are most consistent with rheumatoid arthritis in a 55 years female patient with hand deformity and chronic pain.
