Acute right 1st rib fracture, seen well on coronal STIR image.
Case Discussion
This child was found to have an acute subdural hematoma and underwent a routine skeletal survey because the possibility of child abuse was raised. No fractures were seen. An MRI of the neck demonstrated no neck injury, but this rib fracture was noted and was confirmed on a skeletal survey 10 days later.
