  • bowing of leg bones noted bilaterally 
  • cupping and splaying of the metaphyseal ends of tibia
  • widened physes

Case Discussion

Rickets is essentially osteomalacia in the pediatric population that occurs prior to fusion of the growth plate. Vitamin D deficiency because of various factors is the major cause of rickets.
