Fraying and widening of the metaphysis at the wrist, knee and ankle joints. Mild cupping is evident at the wrist joint. The metaphyseal ends are coarsened.
Case Discussion
Deficiency of vitamin D or its derivatives from malabsorption, dietary inadequacy and lack of sun exposure can give rise to rickets. It becomes apparent usually when the child starts walking. Bone deformities such as coxa vara, coxa valga, protrusio acetabuli and codfish vertebrae are radiographic features of this condition.
