Right aortic arch: mirror-image branching

Case contributed by Dr Ahmed Abdrabou

Asymptomatic patient with abnormal chest X ray on routine exam

Patient Data

Age: 45 years old
Gender: Male

The aortic arch is right sided with mirror image variety of left arch. No aberrant subclavian artery or vascular ring to cause tracheal compression.

Case Discussion

This anomaly is asymptomatic however may be associated with congenital heart diseases especially fallot tetralogy. There is no true vascular ring so there is no tracheal compression.
