Right MCA territory infarction

Patient presented with left-sided hemiplegia.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female


CT scan demonstrates a hyperdense MCA sign on the right, with patchy low density seen in the right MCA territory. 


12 hours later

12 hours after the initial scan extensive MCA infarction is visible.


12 hours later still (24hours since admission)

24 hours after the initial scan you can see swelling, midline shift and bleeding.


12 hours later still (36 hours after admission)

36 hours after the initial scan and after craniectomy swelling, midline shift and herniation. The Patient died within hours after this scan.
