Presentation
Admitted with fever and ongoing lumbar spine pain. History of remote trauma to lumbar area. Increased inflammatory markers.
Patient Data

Subtle hypodense lesion with vague rim enhancement within the right psoas muscle
Case Discussion
Contrast-enhanced CT abdomen and pelvis demonstrated slightly rim-enhancing hypo dense lesion in the right psoas muscle.
Given patient fever and raised inflammatory markers, an abscess was the main diagnosis, however hematoma was considered a differential diagnosis.
The patient reported prior trauma to the right lumbar region which most likely resulted in psoas muscle heamatoma that got infected.
