Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
ct

Subtle hypodense lesion with vague rim enhancement within the right psoas muscle

Case Discussion

Contrast-enhanced CT abdomen and pelvis demonstrated slightly rim-enhancing hypo dense lesion in the right psoas muscle.

Given patient fever and raised inflammatory markers, an abscess was the main diagnosis, however hematoma was considered a differential diagnosis.

The patient reported prior trauma to the right lumbar region which most likely resulted in psoas muscle heamatoma that got infected.
