Presentation
Background of non small cell lung cancer.
Patient Data

Surgical clips in the right hemithorax with volume loss in the right lung and mediastinal shift to the right are in keeping with a previous right pneumonectomy. Appearance is stable.
Ovoid opacity projected over the left lateral lower zone is a nipple shadow.

The right lung is absent with resultant mediastinal shift towards the right. Longstanding signs of volume loss on the right with rib crowding and diaphragm elevation.
Case Discussion
The patient was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung and underwent a right sided pneumonectomy over 5 years ago.
A pneumonectomy is the surgical removal of a lung, in comparison to a lobectomy which refers to the removal of just one lobe of a lung.
