- opacity within the right upper medial aspect of the hemithorax
- elevation and bowing of the horizontal fissure (Golden S sign)
- elevation of the right hilum
- tracheal deviation to the right
Case Discussion
Classic case of right upper lobe collapse. A RANZCR exam favorite.
In an older patient an underlying obstructing mass lesion requires exclusion. This patient went onto have a CT at another institution, which confirmed an obstructing lesion.
In a young patient, mucus plugging is a common cause.
