Presentation

Intubated and ventilated, increasing white cell count ?infection

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

The NGT and ETT are appropriately placed.  Evidence of increased airspace opacification in the right upper lobe with air bronchograms, in keeping with consolidation.

Case Discussion

Air bronchograms will aid differentiation between consolidation and lobar collapse, as shown in this case of right upper lobe consolidation
