 Evidence of sternotomy.

A round soft tissue density is seen in the posterior basal segment of the left lower lung lobe, adjacent to the pleura associated with minimal left-sided pleural effusion, mild thickening of the adjacent pleura, and reduced volume loss of the respective lobe. Curvilinear opacities are seen extending from the mass into the ipsilateral hilum (comet tail sign).

Case Discussion

This patient developed left-sided pleural effusion and dyspnea after CABG. Imaging findings in the follow-up CT done one month later are in keeping with round atelectasis.
