Ruptured ectopic pregnancy

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Rapidly increasing abdominal girth. Urine pregnancy test was weakly positive.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Abdominal ultrasound shows massive amount of free fluid with fine internal echoes consistent with hemoperitoneum. Adnexal mass could not be identified.

Case Discussion

The weakly positive Beta-hCG in a sexually active female pointed towards possibility of a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.

At laparotomy the diagnosis was confirmed.
