Sacral agenesis

Ongoing back pain.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

Type III sacral agenesis (articulation of iliac bones with lowest lumbar vertebrae).

Additionally two laminated stones within urinary bladder and intrauterine contraceptive device in situ.

Case Discussion

Sacral agenesis is a very rare and severe sacral developmental abnormality.

The incidence is between 0.005 and 0.1% with increased incidence in fetuses of diabetic mothers.
