Sacral agenesis

Presentation

35 years old lady with ongoing back pain.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female
Modality: X-ray

Type III sacral agenesis ( articulation of iliac bones with lowest lumbar vertebrae).

Additionally two laminated stones within urinary bladder and intrauterine contraceptive device in situ.

Case Discussion

Sacral agenesis is a very rare and severe sacral developmental abnormality.

The incidence is between 0.005 and 0.1% with increased incidence in foetuses of diabetic mothers.
