Sacral agenesis (type II)

Presentation

Urine incontinence. Clinician suspected on spina bifida occulta.

Patient Data

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
ct

Partial agenesis of sacrum with bilateral defects; the iliac bone articulates with S1, but the distal sacral elements are not developed.

The lumbar vertebrae are normal. No evidence of lumbar spinal bifida.
Rest of the pelvic bones are normal.
A fluid attenuating structure in the site of absent sacrum (14 x 14mm) (? termination of the thecal sac/small meningocele)

Case Discussion

The features are consistent with sacral agenesis type II.
