Slipped and landed on the bottom. Sacrococcygeal pain and tenderness. No focal neurological deficit.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
mri
  • non displaced tansverse fracture line through S3 vertebra associated with subjacent bone marrow edema/bruise 
  • bone marrow edema/bruise through S4 vertebrae
  • intact coccyx 

Case Discussion

S3 vertebrae fracture with subjacent bone marrow edema/ bruise and classified as zone 3 sacral fractures according to Denis's classification of sacral fractures.
