Presentation

A known case of secondary hyperparathyrodism due to end stage renal disease

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Coarse granular appearance is seen on lateral radiography.

Case Discussion

Multiple small areas on the lateral skull radiograph due to trabecular bone resorption, loss of spongiosa and fibrous replacement . This appearance in a patient with end stage renal disease and secondary hyperparathyrodism is called salt and pepper sign.
