Base of thumb pain.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Widening of the scapholunate interval. Radioscaphoid osteoarthritis. Minimal joint space narrowing at the 1st carpometacarpal joint. 

Case Discussion

The imaging features are of scapholunate advanced collapse (SLAC wrist), which is the likely cause of the "base of thumb" pain in this patient. It can occur post-trauma or in the setting of CPPD.
