Presentation
Chronic wrist pain, old injury.
Patient Data

Focal marrow signal abnormality within the radial aspect of the lunate adjacent to a small, 5 mm, subligamentous cyst. This suggests the volar SL ligament is abnormal, such as an old sprain, but the membranous and dorsal portions are normal. Small focal region of chondromalacia along the ulna aspect of the lunate.
The adjacent TFCC is unremarkable, including no degenerative signal in the disc. The TFCC complex is intact. Small intraosseous ganglion noted in the trapezoid. Small amount of fluid with the piso-triquetral recess with 2 small associated ganglia which may represent changes secondary to mild impingement.
Comment Lunate edema.
